Ted Rhodes, Website Editor

Retired Army veteran of 28 years in service. My peacetime service included combat arms assignments with Special Forces as an engineer and demolition specialist, infantry platoon leader, basic training company commander, battalion operations officer and acting battalion commander. Late in my career, I deployed to Iraq as a civil affairs officer, which was a war zone assignment—not combat. It’s important to make that distinction in honor of those who served, suffered, and died heroically.

My Army assignments took me to seven stations around the country in which I lived in many different municipal jurisdictions. After moving to Ormond Beach from Phoenix Arizona in 2022, I noticed a difference in governance in this local area. The grip on local government from special interests here is greater than in most other places I’ve lived. These stark differences might not be readily apparent to someone who has lived in Ormond Beach for most of their lives. I’m just a guy sharing my observations from a fresh perspective about how to make Ormond Beach our home.
