Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) has announced that the recent deal to drop the public option means nothing to him.
Lieberman says he was not invited into the closed door session where the agreement was hammered out, and before he makes judgement, he says he wants to see the legislative language and the Congressional Budget Office score as well.
Other Democrat senators are also in play, such as Kent Conrad (D-ND) and Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA). The most publicized Democrat senators on the fence are Landrieu (LA), Nelson (NB), and Lincoln (AR). This puts the whip count at 54, six votes short of the 60 votes required to move the bill to a floor vote.
