There is much credibility to the science behind global warming, but the ClimateGate deniers are undermining the credibility of their cause. Even if you believe in man-made global warming, the ClimateGate scandal must be addressed head on. Climatologists must purge their ranks of liars are unscrupulous scientists within their community.
Let's start with facts:
1. There is much scientific evidence that regions of the Earth are warming.
2. There is equal evidence that other regions of the Earth are currently cooling. (i.e., the increase of glacial ice in Antarctica.)
3. There is no evidence that the world-wide scientific climatology community has conspired in a global conspiracy to falsify global warming.
4. Phil Jones and othe scientists at the CRU are guilty of malfeasance, which includes:
a. Deliberately not including raw data that contradicted their AGW hypothesis.
b. Deliberately deleting raw data, normally regarded as sacrosanct to any scientist of integrity.
c. Deliberately rigging the peer review process to select an incestsuously small peer group to review their findings.
d. On two separate occasions, they had climatology journal editors fired who did not agree with them.
e. They skewed their computer code to optain the global warming results they wanted.
f. They deliberately adjusted temperatures of the mideival warming period in order to make the recent warming period appear cataclycismic.
5. Al Gore has been caught making many false statements, proved in the High Court of the UK, and even corrected by scientists he himself quotes.
6. William Connolley rewrote thousands of articles about AGW for Wikipedia many of which were proven innacurate. Connolley was also found guilty of blackballing other contributing scientists who disagreed with AGW theory. Connolley was ultimately dismissed from the Wikipedia review board.
7. James Hansen, director of the NASA Goodard Institute for atmospheric and space studies is currently under scrutiny for stonewalling a FOIA request for raw data for two years.
8. From reviewing the hacked emails, other CRU scientists who are clearly guilty of malfeasance are: Keith Briffa, Jones' assistant, Tom Wigley, Phil Jones' predecessor, both Raymond S. Bradley and Tim Osborn, also of the CRU, Malcolm Hughes, professor at University of Arizona, Caspar Ammann, of the National Center for Atmospheric Research of Boulder Colorado, Michael Mann from Penn State University, and the work of Hubert Lamb, now deceased.
Summary: The credibility of the AGW climatology community is in serious peril. Denying the seriousness of this scandal will only diminish the credibility of the climate change cause. AGW scientists must clean house, and purge the scientists who have sullied the reputation of honest and objective climatologists who have been associated with them. Otherwise, rightly or wrongly, the entire science behind global warming will be dismissed as a global hoax, ultimately bringing the entire movement to a complete halt.
